Graduation.

How many people have actually had the honor of walking across a stage for graduation? Not too many? I did actually graduate from high school. I got my GED so I did not get to walk with my fellow class of 1995 classmates. I did however graduate from college and that was amazing. Walking across the stage and everyone witnessing your accomplishment- it was a memory I won't ever forget.

My very dear and close friend's son graduated this past May. Us being as close as family went along.

(Before the seats were filled)

There were 642 graduating seniors and out of that 5 of them had a full scholar ship to the Naval Academy worth more than 400,000.00! I was amazed. They said that this was the first in the school's history that more than 2 students received this award. I was shocked!

As you can imagine it was going to take awhile to get through 642 graduates. We came prepared. We had Billy bring his game boy so there was no whining or complaints of being bored.

After the graduation we all walked outside to meet up with our graduates. This is what we found:

We're not sure why he was sleeping there at 11:30 in the morning. We are sure of two things:
1) That he was not there when we went in.
2) He was breathing!

This is just a picture of Sabryna in the gardens out side of the Bud Walton Arena after the ceremony.

There is a good reason they call these ceremonies "commencement exercises." Graduation is not the end; it's the beginning. ~Orrin Hatch

Pizza Night

So every Friday night we have Family Pizza Night. I have stolen this idea from my long time friend Khrista. Its self explanatory. We have pizza and spend time together as a family doing something we all agree on doing. Some times we'll include a walk around the Promenade or simply a movie we have rented. The purpose of it is for us to talk about our week and enjoy being a family. Some times we make our pizza and some times we go out for it.

This particular night we went out to Guido's for dinner. This night Andy also happened to be out at the grandparents place for the weekend. So no pictures of him being goofy.

As usual I was safe BEHIND the camera.
Some of the other places we enjoy our pizza night are:
Gusano's
Mad Pizza
Cici's Pizza
Papa Murphy's

As I said we also enjoy making our own. Andrew and I favor a fettuccine sauce with chicken, fresh baby spinach and fresh tomatoes with mozzarella cheese on a thin pre-made crust. Sabryna loves a garlic sauce with tons of veggies and mozzarella. The boys are easy they love a peperoni and cheese pizza.

Are you hungry now? :)

What I like about Sundays

Usually its just me and the kids on Sundays. We hang around the house or go out shopping. The boys hate shopping so usually we just hang out around the house.

However last Sunday Andrew's weekly guy thing was canceled. That meant we would all be home hanging out around the house. We decided to have a BBQ. Nothing fancy- just some burgers a couple of steaks. I made macaroni salad and we had some fresh cut watermelon on the side.

While the coals were getting hot we played a game of catch. Well the guys played catch.

Sabryna just flipped all around them and I snapped pictures of the whole thing while making sure nothing caught on fire.

Peanuts and Cracker Jacks

This year both boys are playing Baseball. Andy is in the 9yr old division while Billy is in the 6year old division. They play here on the fields and boy do they keep us busy!

This is Billy's first year in any kind of team sport. He loves it one day and then hates it the next. He's doing really well. He's still a little scared of the ball, but he's understanding the game now. Its so amazing to watch as they learn something new and see that they are truly enjoying it.

Although Andy has been in team sports before this is his first year playing Baseball. He still says that he like Football the best, but he is enjoying himself just as much as Billy is. Andy is new to Baseball and some of the other kids on his team have been playing since they were 4 (here they start baseball at age 4) and we thought that would be discouraging to Andy. It's not stoped him in the least. I think it makes him try just a little harder. He has already gotten 2 game balls. He's improving with each game and practice.

I don't have as many pictures of Andy's games, mostly because I get so involved in watching them play that I forget to take pictures! I'll try to get some more.
The two teams are
Andy: Kansas City Royals & Billy: St Louis Cardinals

Going Backwards a Little

EASTER:

This Easter we did not do our normal traditional things. We went to my husbands parents house the day before and had a hot dog dinner and then the kids hunted plastic eggs. They had fun.

We did a contest of sorts this year with the egg hunt. The one who found the most eggs won a prize.

Andy was our winner! He won a stuffed Bunny, but gave it up to one of the younger cousins.

On easter Day we colored our eggs and then made a yummy egg salad for lunch and some potato salad to have with our dinner. We didn't leave the house at all not even for church. I was really missing my family. For dinner we had ham, potato salad, corn, pineapple and croissant rolls. It was a nice quiet Family Day.

Mothers Day

My mothers day was sweet and a wee bit chilly.

I got to sleep in a little. When I got up we all went out to eat a nice brunch at Golden Corral. From there we headed off to Walmart for my other present. I got a new phone to replace my old crummy phone. I picked the Blackberry Curve after a lot of thought and consideration. I think I drove them all nuts!

Finally we set out for the Lake with my husbands family for Mothers Day. The weather was way past chilly! Dinner was fantastic- it was smoked chicken and grilled pork chops with salad and for dessert we had peach dumplings with vanilla ice cream. We all had a nice time but were very happy to get back in the heated car for the drive back into town.

I had a picture of Sabryna too, but she begged me not to post it. It was not a good hair day for her.

Playing Catch up..

So its been a long time since I have been on. I decided that I am no good at doing this once a week. I forget or put it off. So I am going to try to do it every day which hopefully means I will do it at least every other day.
Here are a couple of Catch up pictures...

On Friday May 8,2009 Billy's class did their Mother's Day Tea. The kids invite their moms and grandmothers to the class to have Tea and snacks. They do a skit or two and present us with the presents that they have made for us. I got a tile with Billy's hand print and his name written on it. I have one from when Andy was in kindergarten too.

The other two pictures are of my guys and then of my kids. We went for a movie and a nice walk around the mall with the kids later that evening. It was a wonderful day for all of us.

School Parties

The boys had their Valentine Parties this past Friday (yesterday). Andrew could not make it to them, so I had to be in both places at the same time. It was nuts! But so much fun. Andy's class was crazy and chaotic. They actually had activities which added to the chaos because they were all sugared up! They did a relay race where they had to pick up a heart on their nose (they used Vaseline on the tip on the nose to get them to stick) and run it back to where they started. They also did a cookie message where they used rubber stamps and red food coloring to write a message on their cookies. Oh and they played with message hearts. I wasn't there for that part so I'm not sure what the point was. *shrug*

Billy's class did nothing. It seems the Home Mom was sick or something like that. I felt so bad for the class. This is why I think there should a group of home mothers. So things like this don't happen. So all his class did was eat cuppy cakes and juice and listen to music in their groups. I was sad. But he liked it, and that's what counts.
